Accessibility Statement for Scoopz Ice Cream Hut

Last updated April 16 2025

Our Commitment

Scoopz Ice Cream Hut is committed to making our website, scoopzicecream.ca, accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We strive to meet or exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and to support the principles of the Accessible Canada Act and Alberta’s Accessible Alberta initiatives.

Measures We Take

  • Standards‑Based Code – Built with semantic HTML 5 and ARIA landmarks to aid screen‑reader navigation.

  • Keyboard Access – All interactive elements are operable without a mouse.

  • Text Alternatives – Descriptive alt text accompanies images, icons, and media.

  • Contrast & Color – We follow WCAG contrast ratios to ensure readable text and distinguishable controls.

  • Responsive Design – Content reflows for mobile, tablet, and desktop without loss of information or functionality.

  • Skip Links – “Skip to main content” links let keyboard and assistive‑technology users bypass repeated navigation.

  • Form Labels & Errors – Contact and booking forms include properly associated labels, instructions, and error messages.

  • Captioned Media – Videos posted after March 2025 include captions; legacy media is being updated.

  • Ongoing Testing – Regular audits using automated tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE) plus manual checks with screen readers (NVDA & VoiceOver).

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review new content and features before they go live and welcome community feedback to help us identify and fix any issues that may arise.
